Caroline was elected to the London Assembly in May 2008 and has a strong track record of campaigning on issues such as strong policing and improved public transport across the capital. She is the Chair of the London Assembly's Transport Committee. Caroline is also a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

Caroline has been a Liberal Democrat Councillor in Southwark since 1998. From 2002-04 she was Deputy Leader of Southwark Council, and between 2004 and 2008 she was initially Executive Member for Education, widening to Children’s Services and Education, as well as Deputy Leader of the Council Group.

In addition to work at the Town Hall, Caroline was a Director of Southwark Energy Agency from 1998 until 2001, a board member of Aylesbury New Deal for Communities 2002 to 2004. She has been a Board Member of Lambeth and Southwark Housing Association since May 2002 and a Trustee of the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education since 2005.

Caroline was the Parliamentary Candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood constituency in the 2001 General Election and is currently Parliamentary Spokesperson for Vauxhall.

Caroline moved to London after graduating from the University of Wales Aberystwyth in 1994. She worked in local government and the health service for over a decade before becoming a full time politician. Caroline lives in Camberwell with her husband Paul.
